Robert D. Rothbort, a partner at Armao, Costa & Ricciardi, CPAs, P.C., has over twenty years of professional experience in both public and private accounting. His expertise includes tax planning, accounting, forensic accounting, estate planning and business succession planning.

Rob’s experience spans an array of industries which include construction, not-for-profit, real estate, warehousing, logistics and labor unions. He advises privately held and family owned businesses and their owners, as well as high net worth individuals. As a business consultant and trusted advisor, Rob helps his clients create optimal business growth and tax strategies, including mergers and acquisitions, succession planning and corporate reorganization. His main objective is to minimize tax burdens with the goal of ultimately maximizing his clients’ wealth.
As a Certified Fraud Examiner, Rob scrutinizes accounting records in business disputes to detect discrepancies; he provides expert testimony and implements effective internal controls to prevent future fraudulent activity. His practice includes internal and board investigations, white collar crime, disability claims, tax violations, commercial bribery, computer fraud, embezzlement and misuse of funds, and trust and estate fraud investigations, among other areas.
Rob is a frequent contributor to regional and industry focused publications including Accounting Today, Newsday, Long Island Business News and The Trusted Professional. He has been featured in “Who’s Who in Accounting” in Long Island Business News. Rob is a frequent presenter of seminars on the topics of accounting and auditing for construction contractors, as well as strategic tax planning and tax strategies for family owned and closely held companies. He serves on the board of directors of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) and is a member of the Forensic Accounting Committee of the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA).
Rob is actively involved in several local charities including Contractors for Kids, a non-profit organization founded to assist children and their families overcome obstacles they have encountered through sickness, injury or death and Commerce Plaza, a unique, hands-on educational program that introduces children to the business community through a simulated work environment. Rob is also a member of Armao, Costa & Ricciardi’s “Canstruction” team that supports Long Island Cares, Inc., The Harry Chapin Food Bank.
Rob earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Hofstra University. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of New York.
